I love all the small, beautiful details in nature. Like in this picture where I have photographed a small wave breaking over a chunk of ice on the coast in Northern Norway. If you click on the image and look at it large you can see how the ocean have formed the ice and look at the lovely colors of the ocean.
If one takes the time to sit down and observe there is always something interesting to be found in the nature 🙂

Check out this picture where the nature have made some ice UFOs.

Picture of old boatshed against snow covered mountains in Northern Norway

Taken with Olympus E500 digital camera March 1st 2008. Click image for larger view.
In this picture you can see the family boatshed with some snow covered mountains as background.
You can tell from the battered look that the boatshed have endured countless of harsh storms. It’s tilting a bit to left because of some extreme storms a few years ago that moved the boatshed a good 40 cm (16 inch) from the foundation. I hope it wont fall down over my boat 😉
The tallest mountain in the background is called Ã…tinden and is about 1000 meters above sea level.

Check out this photo of a decayed boathouse that is about to fall down.

Picture of sjark fishing boat sailing in evening scenery in Northern Norway

Taken with Olympus E500 digital camera March 4th 2008. Click image for larger view.
In this picture you can see a small fishing boat that is called “sjark” in Norwegian, sailing on the fjord. These small fishing boats are very typical for the fisheries on the coast in Northern Norway and I’m hoping that some day I will be doing fishing from a sjark too. They can be quite expensive to buy especially if you want to buy the boat with a quota for commercial fishing.
The spots over the boat and in the sky are seagulls and not dust spots on the camera sensor/lens 😉

Here are a couple of other pictures of fishing boats on the sea in Northern Norway:

Picture of half eaten Rattail (Roundnose grenadier, Coryphaenoides rupestris) deep sea fish

Picture of half eaten Rattail (Roundnose grenadier, Coryphaenoides rupestris) deep sea fish
Taken with Olympus E500 digital camera February 28th 2008. Click image for larger view.
I found this half eaten Rattail fish (probably a Roundnose grenadier, Coryphaenoides rupestris) laying in the middle of a field. I suspect that a sea eagle found the fish washed up on a beach nearby (there was sand all over the fish), but due to it size the eagle lost the fish while flying over this field.
I’ve never seen this type of fish before so I had to do a lot of research to figure out the specie. I was tipped of that it is of a family called rattail, also known as grenadier, and more specific a Roundnose grenadier (Coryphaenoides rupestris). This is a deep sea fish living on depths between 100 – 2000 meters and that explains the enormous eyes on this fish.

Check out this picture of my favorite fish the Atlantic halibut.

Photo of beautiful winter dusk over fjord in Northern Norway

Yesterday we had a beautiful and cold dusk here in Northern Norway. Had to take out the good old camera to capture some pictures of the sunset so I could share it with you all 🙂 I liked how the thin birch tree created a bit of a frame for the scenery.
The mountains in the horizon is a part of an island called Grytøya. The same island can be seen in this picture of the first days of winter last year.
