I recently bought the family house back on Andørja in Northern Norway. As this house is located in the middle of nowhere it is a bit hard to get to it. Right now I live in downtown Oslo where the public transportation is awesome. Owning a car would be troublesome and costly compared to what I get back, and the public transportation takes care of 99% of my needs in the city.
On Andørja, on the other hand, owning a car is a must and I’m considering getting one to have there when I go visit the house and my family. There are many car models I would like to own, like a Mercedes SLS or other models from this car manufacturer.
One major point why I’m considering having a car in Northern Norway is to get around and photograph all the lovely scenery that is up there. While walking and biking can result in lots of good photos it gets a bit boring to photograph the same mountains every day, and it limits my artistic inspiration. There are several areas in the north I would like to explore including the big island Senja (see picture below) and the fabulous Lofoten Islands where you find, in my opinion, the most beautiful scenery in the world. If you ever go to Norway these two places should be on your list to visit.
Of course, there are other reasons to have a car in the north, like getting gas for my boat and groceries from the store that is located a few kilometers away.
