In this picture I have captured what was a fantastic midnight sunset here in Northern Norway. The sunset created some incredible light where this village in the sea was bathed in a beam of sunshine. The picture should be looked at in large size to get a better view of the sunset.
The midnight sun is already gone (I can’t believe how fast this summer has passed), but the nights are still very light if the rain clouds could stay away.

The distant village is called Laupstad and is the place where I grew up (hence my last name Laupstad). The mountains in the background is a part of the second largest island in Norway, Senja.

I have photographed the same village from above in this picture and in this picture you can see the village with a some pink sunset-clouds as background at 01:30 AM.

In this picture I have photographed a sunset late in the evening (at 11 PM) from my bedroom window. I love this view and I never get tired of looking at it :)
Notice all the snow in the mountains that you can see in the horizon (if you click on the picture to view it large it easier to see the snow). We are still a bit away from summer here in Northern Norway and spring has been pretty cold so far. It will hopefully get warmer here soon so a cold Norwegian can get a tan ;)

At this time of the year we get to see some amazing sunsets here in Northern Norway. During the spring, before we get midnight sun, the sun is setting in the ocean in the horizon.
In this picture I have zoomed in on the sun when it was about to set in the ocean. There was some mist in the horizon and it made the sun look particularly spectacular with different shades of red.
We’ve had sunsets like this for a week now and the weather have been great with record warmth.
Spring is a nice time to be living in Northern Norway :)

I was walking in the forest the other day when the reflection of the sunset started to glow on the snow around me. I had to take a picture of the beautiful scene with the trees covering the sun making a natural filter for my camera.
If you look at the photo in large size you can see some spots where the snow has melted and some old grass is peaking through. Spring is right around the corner here in Northern Norway :)

In this picture you can see a small fishing boat that is called “sjark” in Norwegian, sailing on the fjord. These small fishing boats are very typical for the fisheries on the coast in Northern Norway and I’m hoping that some day I will be doing fishing from a sjark too. They can be quite expensive to buy especially if you want to buy the boat with a quota for commercial fishing.
The spots over the boat and in the sky are seagulls and not dust spots on the camera sensor/lens ;)

Yesterday we had a beautiful and cold dusk here in Northern Norway. Had to take out the good old camera to capture some pictures of the sunset so I could share it with you all :) I liked how the thin birch tree created a bit of a frame for the scenery.
The mountains in the horizon is a part of an island called Grytøya. The same island can be seen in this picture of the first days of winter last year.

I was taking a walk on the beach when suddenly the sun created some nice light behind the mountains. There was also some reflections in the windy ocean so I had to get down on my knees to take a picture.
The foam and rocks in the foreground makes the composition more interesting to me.

Loved the beautiful light this evening. The harbor is surrounded by a seawall that makes the sea calm and perfect for reflecting nice sunsets. I thank my forefathers (they made the seawall in 1916) for creating good picture opportunities :)

The sunset from a few days ago made the snow in the mountains glow in shades of red. Had to take a picture of this phenomenon when a star appeared, in the evening, over the mountain peaks.

I’m off to visit the beautiful island Senja this weekend. Hope I can show you all some nice pictures from that place next week :)
