In this picture you can see the characteristic fly agaric fungus (Amanita muscaria), also known as fly Amanita. There have been some talk that the vikings used to eat them to get into their “berserk mode”, but this is most likely just an urban legend. If you are wondering, I did not eat it 😉
Captured the photo of the mushroom back in September when there was still some green grass to be seen.

Sooo pretty. Reminds of fairy tales, elves and pixies at the bottom of a garden.
It’s not very rare, but I bloggeg about it 🙂

It happens to be the Super Mario Mushroom and obviously not known in Japan.
Great picture (as always) !
I think I’ve heard this one referred to as the “Deadly Amanita.” If that’s the case, they probably didn’t dare eat it!
Anyway, it’s a lovely photo!
Great Picture and look very lovely
There were or are Canadian tribes who consume the mushroom as a religious ritual – interestingly enough the older men, because their livers are more susceptible to damage, imbibe the fungus through the urine of younger men…
Just a little fact for the day!
That’s a beautiful looking toadstool! As Marvia said, it looks like it belongs in a fairytale.
wonderful shot, great colors
