I managed to photograph some man-made fireworks in addition to the northern lights, on New Years Eve.
As I live in the middle of nowhere there was not much fireworks to be seen, but this neighbor sent up some nice fireworks. Notice the houses in the lower part of the pictures to get a sense of scale of the fireworks.

The first photo looks like 2 coconut palms! How fun is that?

I like the first image, because the houses in the background give scale and horizon for rest of the photograph.
Second photograph also has houses in it, but in that one they almost “melt” into background and as such it can’t compete with first photograph.
