Time for a landscape picture showing off how nice the summer in Northern Norway can be. The seagull flying over me is a great black-backed seagull. You can see a close up photo of this type of seagull here.
I really liked the fluffy clouds and the morning fog that is about to disappear from the mountains. Looking forward to next years summer 🙂

Picture of flying raven against a snowy winter mountain in Northern Norway

Picture of flying raven against a snowy winter mountain in Northern Norway

In this photo I was lucky enough to catch the raven when it was divided between the blue sky and the snowy mountain. The raven was flying very fast so it was only luck on my side 🙂
Currently the sun have disappeared here in Northern Norway so I’m impatiently awaiting it’s return so I can take more pictures like this. Going on photo trips when everything is grey and sleet comes down from the sky is not fun.

Check out my other raven photos of a raven sitting on a boatshed roof and a raven flying into “gods eye”.

Pictures of Willow tit (Poecile montana) – A fearless bird

In these pictures you can see willow tit birds (Poecile montana). It was amazing to see how fearless these birds are. I could stand 1 meter away from the willow tit and photograph it. I was even able to use my flash, as they got used to it after a couple of shots. I have to try if they will eat from my hand.

Notice the falling sunflower seed in bottom left corner of the first picture. The willow tit kept filling it’s small beak with lots of seeds, but some fell out 😉
I have been observing the birds as they hide seeds so they food during the winter. I been reading about the black capped chickadee (a bird living on the American continent that look very much like the willow tit) and it’s said that it can remember thousands of hiding spots. I wouldn’t be surprised if the willow tit have the same capability.
The nature is amazing 🙂

Photo of White Wagtail (Motacilla alba) – A sure sign of spring and autumn in northern Norway

Photo of White Wagtail (Motacilla alba)
Taken with Olympus E500 digital camera on May 11th 2007. Click image for larger view.

The white wagtail (Motacilla alba) is a sure sign that the spring has come to northern Norway. It is one of the last birds that come flying back from their winter “holiday” in Africa. The white wagtail is also one of the last birds to fly away from northern Norway late in the autumn.
I still see some white wagtails around here, but it is a matter of weeks, if not days, until they all migrate to Africa. Sometimes I wish I could migrate to warmer climates when the winter gets rough.

I love watching the white wagtail chasing insects to feed on as it is a very good at flying and follow the insects every move.

Photo of raven sitting on an old tiled stone roof with snow covered Norwegian mountains as background

Photo of raven sitting on an old tiled stone roof

Back in April I found this raven sitting on the roof our boathouse. Maybe it was Hugin or Munin?

Loved the way it the black raven created a contrast to the white snow-covered mountains and blue sky.

The mountains you see are located on the island Senja (the second largest island in Norway).

Check out my photo of a raven flying into “Gods eye”.
