The white wagtail (Motacilla alba) is a sure sign that the spring has come to northern Norway. It is one of the last birds that come flying back from their winter “holiday” in Africa. The white wagtail is also one of the last birds to fly away from northern Norway late in the autumn.
I still see some white wagtails around here, but it is a matter of weeks, if not days, until they all migrate to Africa. Sometimes I wish I could migrate to warmer climates when the winter gets rough.

I love watching the white wagtail chasing insects to feed on as it is a very good at flying and follow the insects every move.

I took this picture of the beautiful sunset back in July when the weather was warmer here in northern Norway. Been very chilly here lately so I wanted to see a reminder of warmer times 🙂
Notice the tern that is about to land on the rowboat. It was a bit stressing to capture the tern exactly when it was landing.

Here is a sunset photo from the same evening.

Another photo from my fishing trip this weekend. I love the contrast between the white snow covered mountains peaks and the autumn-colored forest you can see in this picture. The calm ocean and the somewhat dramatic clouds are also nice.

The weather was extremely nice that day, unlike today with strong winds and heavy rain showers!

Macro photo of Sundew (Drosera anglica) – A carnivore plant

In this macro photo you see the carnivorous plant sundew. This specific specie is known as Great sundew or English sundew (Drosera anglica).
The sundew plants catch and eat insects to supplement their diet. The sticky drops on the leaves attract insects and when they land the sundew plants close their leaves so the insects can’t escape.
