In this picture you can see a lonely straw against some snow covered winter mountains in Northern Norway. I love the deep blue color on the sky in contrast to the white mountains.
I used a low f-stop, f/2.8, to get a shallow depth of field to get the mountains and the rest of the scenery a bit out of focus, while the straw is in focus.
I’ve done something similar in a scene with some grass straws and boatsheds.

Your right about the blue its a great contrast and I don’t think I have ever seen sky over here with such a nice shade blue.
