Thomas Laupstad

Hi there :) My name is Thomas Laupstad and I recently picked up photography as my favorite activity. I want to show you northern Norway from my point of view. Hope you enjoy the blog!

Raven flying into Gods Eye

Raven flying into Gods Eye
Taken on April 17th 2007. Click image for larger view.

I was hunting down this Common Raven (Corvus corax) with my camera and suddenly it took flight. My camera was in manual mode and was not set to take a photo with the sun in it.
I must say I’m pleased with the result as it is somewhat different. Might call this photo an accident 😉

Check out my other photos of ravens:

Atlantic Puffins (Fratercula arctica) sure are beautiful. They are not very common in my parts, but on my last two fishing trips I have seen many puffins. Very surprising and I hope this means that the number of birds are increasing after years of decreasing populations.

Check out my other bird pictures here.

Macro photo of ant dragging a spider

Macro photo of ant dragging a spider
Taken 6th May, 2007. Click image for larger view.

As I have said before, macro photography is so much fun and a real challenge when you try to capture moving insects.
I believe the ant is some kind of wood ant (Formica rufa), but I have no idea what species the spider is.

I bet some of my readers have the knowledge. Feel free to write a comment with the information about species as I always love to learn new stuff about the nature.

    Information about the picture:
Camera: Olympus E-500 digital single-lens reflex camera
    Exposure: 0.008 sec (1/125)

Taken with Olympus E-500 digital camera May 3rd 2007. Click image for larger view.

The days are getting longer and longer. This picture were taken at 10 PM in evening!
The nights are also getting very light and as I’m writing this, at 2 AM, the horizon is still orange.
We are just talking about a couple of weeks before the midnight sun is showing up here. I will be capturing it so you might want to visit this site later 🙂

Seeing this in real life was very breathtaking and I have to admit that the picture does not give credit to the sight.
