Picture of flying raven against a snowy winter mountain in Northern Norway

Picture of flying raven against a snowy winter mountain in Northern Norway
Taken with Olympus E500 digital camera February 24th 2007. Click image for larger view.

In this photo I was lucky enough to catch the raven when it was divided between the blue sky and the snowy mountain. The raven was flying very fast so it was only luck on my side 🙂
Currently the sun have disappeared here in Northern Norway so I’m impatiently awaiting it’s return so I can take more pictures like this. Going on photo trips when everything is grey and sleet comes down from the sky is not fun.

Check out my other raven photos of a raven sitting on a boatshed roof and a raven flying into “gods eye”.

Photo of stone and seaweed in the ocean using 20 seconds long exposure

Photo of stone and seaweed in the ocean using 20 seconds long exposure
Taken with Olympus E500 digital camera November 19th 2007. Click image for larger view.

As I’ve said before I love long exposure photos. In this picture I have captured a rock on the shore and some seaweed below the surface.
I used a 20 second long shutter speed to create the dreamy and foggy effect. It almost looks like a mountaintop peaking through some mist.

Check out my other long exposure photos here.

    Information about the pictures:
Camera: Olympus E-500 digital SLR camera
    Exposure: 20 sec (20)

Macro pictures of withered calendula flowers (pot marigold) – Last remains of summer in Northern Norway

In these photos I have captured the last remains of summer here in Northern Norway. These flowers are from the calendula plant, also known as pot marigold.
I was amazed how long these plants were able to survive. They were even flowering after some nights with frost.

The first photo is of an orange calendula flower that look relatively fresh.

These yellow calendula flowers, though, look like they had to cave in for the colder season.

Picture of Fata Morgana (mirage) phenomenon on the coast in Northern Norway

Picture of Fata Morgana phenomenon on the coast in Northern Norway
Taken with Olympus E500 digital camera November 8th 2007. Click image for larger view.

In this picture you can see the optical phenomenon called Fata Morgana, on the coast in Northern Norway. Please click the image to get a larger view of the phenomenon. Notice how the coast (especially the small island on the left) is “miraged”. The phenomenon is a result of differences in temperature.
You can read more about Fata Morgana in this article on Wikipedia.

Check out this picture from last winter where the Fata Morgana phenomenon also appears.
